Adobe After Effects Lesson

Adobe After Effects was surprisingly simple! Keying using green screen was easy as after effects could detect the colour of the green screen really well. I practiced on the mirror practice project which was an idea from another group as this was a simple starting point in which we could all go through it step by step. As you can see it went fairly well although it proved difficult syncing up the two videos to match on action when editing. Also a problem with keying was the green screen key was sometimes so sensitive that it would key out other colours on the image that you didn't want deleting. Therefore the only way around that was to key frame by frame. When putting the image on it looked great however shadows sometimes caused problems for after effects, the shadow of the girls hand was very distracting as after effects picked this up and changed it so it wasn't transparent when whe touches the mirror. This was a lighting issue more than anything as again there was not flat lighting. I think every group who used green screen had an issue with flat lighting their green screens and this was a learning curve for all of us. However it is so easy to create a back ground in green screen and layer it onto after effects and this was something I found easy to pick up when learning after effects, I hope to have a few tutorials on this and look at more advanced after effects for my final research project.
